It was earlier known as Rajendra Nagar.

When this elevated station opened in Ghaziabad on 8 March 2019 it was simply Rajendra Nagar. It now carries the name of Major Mohit Sharma, an Ashoka Chakra awardee, in whose honour it was renamed. DMRC proposed the station early in 2016 as part of the Red Line extension; trials were due by 30 September 2018, the section was inaugurated on 8 March 2019 and it opened to passengers the following day.

DMRC’s description highlights one neighbour in particular, the Hindon Air Force base, which it places 4.5 kilometres away. Trains stop at side platforms between Raj Bagh and Shyam Park, about two minutes from each, and the two gates take their names from nearby businesses: Gate No. 1 near Bikanervala and Gate No. 2 near Durga Industrial Park.
