Barakhamba Road joined the Blue Line, opened on 30 December 2005 in the underground section between Rajiv Chowk and Mandi House. It was built by the Shapoorji Pallonji Group and takes its name from the road above, itself named after monuments of the Tughlaq dynasty.

The station has six gates, and they are named after the office buildings they lead to rather than streets: Nirmal Tower, Kunchanjangha Building, the DCM/HDFC Building, Indra Prakash Building, Narayan Manzil and New Delhi House. Platform 1 serves trains to both Noida Electronic City and Vaishali, and Platform 2 serves trains to Dwarka Sector 21. Rajiv Chowk is one stop away. Above ground, the station is a short walk from Metro Bhawan and the Delhi Fire Services headquarters, both of which DMRC lists about 0.15 km away.

DMRC does not publish separate Saturday, Sunday or holiday times for each station, and on special days it announces changes in advance. A last train after midnight belongs to the previous evening’s service. “Not published” means DMRC’s own answer was inconsistent (arrival before departure), so we leave it out.
