Kaushambi was meant to open in March 2011, but after several delays it finally opened on 14 July 2011. It was built as part of a 2.57 km extension from Anand Vihar on the Vaishali branch of the Blue Line, and is one of the stations of that branch in Ghaziabad district, Uttar Pradesh.

The station is elevated, with side platforms, between Anand Vihar ISBT and Vaishali, about two minutes from each. DMRC’s description gives only its type. The space beneath the station is used for restaurants and food outlets.
