Tilak Nagar station dates from 30 December 2005, when it opened as an elevated Blue Line stop with side platforms between Subhash Nagar and Janakpuri East. DMRC’s description is limited to its elevated structure.

Its four gates are the clearest guide to the area. Two lead to the Central Market, one of them also to the Saatmanjila Temple; another serves Ashok Nagar, Fateh Nagar and Jail Road; and the last is signed for Prem Nagar and DMRC’s authorised parking. Being on the Blue Line’s main route, it sees trains running to Noida and, after the branch at Yamuna Bank, to Vaishali.
