The name is literal. DMRC says Okhla Bird Sanctuary station is named after the nearby bird sanctuary, and its Gate No. 1 is signed for it. The elevated station opened on 25 December 2017 on the Magenta Line and is the last stop before Botanical Garden, with Kalindi Kunj on the other side, across the Yamuna.

It stands in Gautam Buddha Nagar district, Uttar Pradesh, between the Yamuna on one side and the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway on the other. DMRC calls it a feeding station for Amity University, HCL and other IT companies, and notes the high-rise Supernova building directly in front of it. The third gate is signed for the Mahamaya Flyover. The station’s address is Sector 94, Noida, and the sanctuary that gives it its name is one of the 466 Important Bird Areas listed for India.
