It was earlier known as ESI Hospital.

When it opened on 14 March 2018 under Phase III, this Pink Line station was called ESI Hospital. Later the same year it was renamed ESI-Basaidarapur, adding the name of the neighbourhood to that of the hospital. It is elevated, with side platforms, between Punjabi Bagh West and Rajouri Garden.

DMRC’s gate descriptions show how wide a catchment the two exits have. Gate 2 is listed for the ESI Hospital, ISKCON Punjabi Bagh, Sudarshan Park, Bali Nagar, ESI Colony and the Punjabi Bagh club; Gate 1 for Rajdhani College, Shivaji College, Basaidarapur, Tagore Garden Extension and the Directorate General of Home Guards. On the ring, trains run towards Majlis Park and Yamuna Vihar from one platform and towards Maujpur-Babarpur and Shiv Vihar from the other.
