Chhatarpur was meant to open in June 2010 with the rest of the elevated Yellow Line corridor from Qutab Minar, but land acquisition held it back. DMRC began acquiring land in the area in September 2006 and obtained the plot only in October 2009, after prolonged litigation. At one point it decided to skip the station, but that would have left a 2.7 km gap between Qutab Minar and Sultanpur, too long for the system, so it adopted a special design costing an additional 30 to 50%.

That design used prefabricated structural steel instead of concrete, which would have needed at least 18 to 24 months. The steel parts were made in a factory in Gurgaon, and the joints were checked by radiography and dye-penetration tests. The station opened to the public on 26 August 2010, built in nine months, in time for the Commonwealth Games. DMRC describes it as built completely with steel, on the Delhi-Gurugram road of the Yellow Line, with an MMI facility for last-mile connectivity.

DMRC does not publish separate Saturday, Sunday or holiday times for each station, and on special days it announces changes in advance. A last train after midnight belongs to the previous evening’s service. “Not published” means DMRC’s own answer was inconsistent (arrival before departure), so we leave it out.
