It was earlier known as Garden Estate.

Coming from Delhi, Guru Dronacharya is the first station in Gurugram, as DMRC puts it. It opened on 21 June 2010 on the elevated Yellow Line along MG Road, with side platforms, between Arjan Garh and Sikanderpur. Its name honours Drona, the guru and master of military arts in the Mahabharata, and the station was formerly known as Garden Estate.

DMRC’s description picks out the Global Business Park near Gate 1, which it calls a hub for IT companies, the Garden Estate society near Gate 2, the Sikanderpur market as one of the main attractions nearby, and the Aravali Biodiversity Park within walking distance.
