Okhla NSIC takes its name from the NSIC office and exhibition complex beside it, both of which appear on DMRC’s gate signs. The elevated station opened on 25 December 2017 as part of the Magenta Line and sits between Kalkaji Mandir and Sukhdev Vihar in South East Delhi.

DMRC describes it as being in close vicinity of the Lotus Temple, the Okhla Sabzi Mandi and the NSIC office, very near Okhla Railway Station, and the key connectivity for Modi Mill and the Lotus Temple. Its three gates are split between two sides: Gates No. 1 and 3 face NSIC, Okhla Phase-3, Okhla Railway Station, Shambhu Dayal Bagh and Captain Gaur Marg, while Gate No. 2 is signed for the NSIC Exhibition Complex, the Lotus Temple and Kalkaji Mandir. Okhla railway station, which belongs to Indian Railways, is a separate station, not a metro interchange.
