It was earlier known as Wazirpur.

Netaji Subhash Place first opened on 31 March 2004 on the Red Line, and was formerly listed as Wazirpur. In March 2018 it became an interchange when the Pink Line arrived, so passengers could change here between the Red Line and the ring. DMRC describes it as an elevated interchange station near Delhi Haat and the TV Tower.

The two lines have their own platforms: Platforms 1 and 2 serve the Red Line towards Rithala and Shaheed Sthal (New Bus Adda), and Platforms 3 and 4 the Pink Line. The Red Line neighbours are Keshav Puram and Kohat Enclave; on the Pink Line they are Shakurpur and Shalimar Bagh. For Gokulpuri, Johri Enclave and Shiv Vihar on the Pink spur, DMRC treats the spur as a separate service from Maujpur-Babarpur.
