Pratap Nagar opened on 3 October 2003 on the Red Line, and stands as an elevated station between Shastri Nagar and Pulbangash, in the Old Delhi district. Its two gates are named after the railway stations on either side: Gate No. 1 towards Kishanganj railway station and Gate No. 2 towards Sabzi Mandi railway station.

That makes it a useful link with Indian Railways. The metro station is within walking distance of both the Subzi Mandi and Delhi Kishanganj railway stations, and DMRC lists Subzi Mandi Railway Station at about 0.4 km. DMRC’s own station entry otherwise says only that it is elevated.
