It was earlier known as Vivekanand Puri.

Formerly called Vivekanand Puri, Shastri Nagar opened on 3 October 2003 on the Red Line, between Inderlok and Pratap Nagar. It is an elevated station with side platforms, and DMRC’s own description goes no further than that.

The two gates set out its uses: Gate 1 points towards Sarai Rohilla railway station and Gate 2 towards Shastri Nagar Market. DMRC lists both the market and the Shastri Nagar bus stand right at the station. The station is in DMRC’s Old Delhi district; trains from Platform 1 run to Rithala and from Platform 2 to Shaheed Sthal (New Bus Adda).

DMRC does not publish separate Saturday, Sunday or holiday times for each station, and on special days it announces changes in advance. A last train after midnight belongs to the previous evening’s service. “Not published” means DMRC’s own answer was inconsistent (arrival before departure), so we leave it out.
