Lal Quila Metro Station
Violet Line · Old Delhi, Delhi
About Lal Quila metro station
It was earlier known as Red Fort.
Lal Quila, earlier known as Red Fort station, takes its name from the Mughal fort that stands almost at its doorstep, the former residence of the Mughal emperors and now a Monument of National Importance. The station opened on 28 May 2017 on the Violet Line and lies underground, with an island platform, beneath Netaji Subhash Marg in the Chandni Chowk area of Old Delhi.
It is the last stop before the line’s terminus at Kashmere Gate, 2.8 minutes away, and Jama Masjid, which serves another Mughal-era monument, is 1.6 minutes in the other direction. Of its four gates, Gate 4 is labelled Red Fort, Gates 1 and 3 open onto Netaji Subhash Marg and Gate 2 leads to the Old Lajpat Rai Market.

Departure times from this station on a weekday, as DMRC’s journey planner gives them (checked on Tuesday 20 October 2026; the planner takes no date). DMRC does not publish separate Saturday, Sunday or holiday times for each station, and on special days it announces changes in advance. A last train after midnight belongs to the previous evening’s service. “Not published” means DMRC’s own answer was inconsistent (arrival before departure), so we leave it out.
