Moolchand opened on 3 October 2010 with the first section of the Violet Line, in time for the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games on the same day. The elevated station has side platforms and lies between Lajpat Nagar, two minutes away, and Kailash Colony.

It has just one gate, which DMRC signs for Moolchand Hospital and Andrews Ganj. Schools nearby, among them Kendriya Vidyalaya and Frank Anthony, mean the station is used by school children travelling in from further afield. DMRC’s own description adds nothing beyond calling Moolchand one of the network’s elevated stations, together with phone numbers for the station officer.

DMRC does not publish separate Saturday, Sunday or holiday times for each station, and on special days it announces changes in advance. A last train after midnight belongs to the previous evening’s service. “Not published” means DMRC’s own answer was inconsistent (arrival before departure), so we leave it out.
