It was earlier known as Delhi Main.

Opened on 3 July 2005, Chandni Chowk is one of the underground stations of the Yellow Line through Old Delhi, between Kashmere Gate and Chawri Bazar. Older lists record it under the name Delhi Main. DMRC says the station serves Chandni Chowk, which it calls Delhi’s oldest market, and the Old Delhi railway station (Delhi Junction), and it names Gurdwara Sis Ganj, the Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Fatehpuri Masjid, Sadar Bazar, the historic Town Hall and the Delhi Public Library among the places around it.

The link with Indian Railways is what sets it apart: Delhi Junction is connected to the metro station by an underground tunnel, and DMRC places the railway station just 0.1 km away. Gate 3 is the exit DMRC labels for Delhi Railway Station, while Gate 5 is the one for the Chandni Chowk market, Khari Baoli and Sadar Bazar.

DMRC does not publish separate Saturday, Sunday or holiday times for each station, and on special days it announces changes in advance. A last train after midnight belongs to the previous evening’s service. “Not published” means DMRC’s own answer was inconsistent (arrival before departure), so we leave it out.
