Chawri Bazar Metro Station
Yellow Line · Old Delhi, Delhi
About Chawri Bazar metro station
Chawri Bazar was inaugurated on 3 July 2005 as part of the Kashmere Gate – Central Secretariat corridor of the Yellow Line, between Chandni Chowk and New Delhi. It lies about 25 metres below ground, and DMRC says it is the second deepest station on its network after Hauz Khas on the Magenta Line.
Its design follows from where it is. DMRC calls the Chawri Bazaar locality very congested, and says the station was built by the New Austrian Tunnelling Method, with two vertical shafts sunk in the small area available. Those shafts are the entry and exit points of the station and also house its operational areas and passenger amenities. The station building has seven floors at the north end and eleven at the south end.
First and last metro at Chawri Bazar
Departure times from this station on a weekday, as DMRC’s journey planner gives them (checked on Tuesday 20 October 2026; the planner takes no date). DMRC does not publish separate Saturday, Sunday or holiday times for each station, and on special days it announces changes in advance. A last train after midnight belongs to the previous evening’s service. “Not published” means DMRC’s own answer was inconsistent (arrival before departure), so we leave it out.
