Model Town opened on the Yellow Line on 4 February 2009. DMRC describes it as an elevated station near the Model Town police station and Chhatarsal Stadium, and its side platforms lie between Azadpur and Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar, a little over two minutes from each.

Four gates spread out from the station, each signed for a different landmark or neighbourhood: Gate No. 1 for Alpana Cinema, Gate No. 2 for Tagore Park, Gate No. 3 for Kirpal Bagh and Gate No. 4 for Gujranwala Town. The police station DMRC mentions is practically next door, at 0.01 km in its own list.
