Azadpur opened on 4 February 2009 on the Yellow Line, between Adarsh Nagar and Model Town. It is now also on the Pink Line, and the two are built in opposite ways: DMRC describes the Yellow Line part as elevated and the Pink Line part as underground, with an interchange between them. On the Pink Line the neighbours are Majlis Park and Shalimar Bagh.

There are four platforms, two for each line, and four gates leading to MCD Flats, the Azadpur bus terminal, Lal Bagh and GT Karnal Road, and Model Town 3. DMRC points out two features of its own. A foot over bridge connects the station directly with the Azadpur DTC bus terminal, and a Delhi Metro Rail Police station stands near Gate 1 to deal with operational and passenger issues. DMRC also places the station near Chhatrasal Stadium, which it credits with producing many well-known athletes.

DMRC does not publish separate Saturday, Sunday or holiday times for each station, and on special days it announces changes in advance. A last train after midnight belongs to the previous evening’s service. “Not published” means DMRC’s own answer was inconsistent (arrival before departure), so we leave it out.
