Uttam Nagar East belongs to the Dwarka arm of the Blue Line and has carried trains since 30 December 2005. The track runs on a viaduct here, with a separate platform for each direction: platform 2 for Dwarka Sector 21, platform 1 for trains towards Noida Electronic City and Vaishali. The station shares the Uttam Nagar name with its neighbour Uttam Nagar West, one stop further out, while Janakpuri West lies on the other side.

Because the Blue Line forks at Yamuna Bank, eastbound trains from here do not all end at the same terminus. DMRC runs through services from Dwarka to Vaishali as well as to Noida Electronic City, so the destination board matters if you are heading beyond the river. DMRC itself gives no more than the standard line about it being one of its elevated stations.
