Vishwavidyalaya serves the North Campus of Delhi University, which DMRC lists just 0.2 km away. Vishwavidyalaya opened on 20 December 2004 as an underground stop of the Yellow Line, with side platforms; its neighbours are Vidhan Sabha and Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar.

DMRC’s description places it by the Delhi University North Campus, the Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute and the Kamla Nagar market, and points out that the Yellow Line links it directly to the Maharana Pratap ISBT, New Delhi railway station and AIIMS. Two of its four gates, Gates 3 and 4, are marked by DMRC for Delhi University; the other two face Timarpur and the Riviera Apartments.
