The Blue Line opened at Mayur Vihar-I on 12 November 2009, and the station later became an interchange with the Pink Line. The Pink Line station had to fit along Khudi Ram Bose Marg, a road only 13 m wide; the 140 m long station uses a chandelier-style design, with a single pier that branches into two columns, the first use of such a design on the Delhi Metro. Its platforms sit at a height of 22 metres.

An 83 m footbridge links the two stations, and the Pink Line viaduct crosses above the Blue Line and two road flyovers at a height of 23 m. Both stations are elevated, and DMRC describes this as an interchange offering connectivity with multiple metro lines. On the Blue Line the neighbours are Akshardham and Mayur Vihar Extension; on the Pink Line they are Sarai Kale Khan – Nizamuddin, almost five minutes away, and Shree Ram Mayur Vihar Mandir.
